Info for The Bright and the Dark Vol. 2
Symphonic jazz for the 21st century – conceived on a grand scale, composed for a sixteen-piece orchestra, and led by one of the most distinctive voices on the European scene.
With "The Bright and the Dark," Maria Baptist creates music that transcends the old dichotomies: jazz or classical, composition or improvisation, structure or freedom. Everything interlocks, everything follows an inner logic – through-composed yet open, clearly structured and full of energy.
For ten years, the Maria Baptist Orchestra has been setting new trends in the orchestral landscape and sees itself as a pioneer of symphonic jazz. With the world premiere of "Jazz Symphony No. 1," it transcends the boundaries of classical orchestral works and large-scale jazz compositions. Already nominated twice for the German Record Critics' Award, the ensemble underscores its significance for contemporary jazz.
The Maria Baptist Orchestra has been setting new standards in the orchestral landscape for ten years and sees itself as a pioneer of symphonic jazz.
