Info for Between Times

Svetlana Marinchenko releases her third album "Between Times" with eight original compositions that combine modern jazz and elements of electronic music, poetry and folklore.

The compositions on the album unite the diverse currents of contemporary jazz, inspired by polyrhythmic and polyharmonic elements. Svetlana Marinchenko combines classical influences, electronic effects and beats, as well as folkloristic moments, with which she recalls her cultural and musical roots.

The creation of the album coincided with the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has great emotional significance for the young pianist. With family connections to both countries, she reflects on her feelings and experiences on the album. The pieces carry a strong message and are meant to help those affected in difficult times to process their feelings. Especially with the track "Between Times", in which Svetlana also sings, she draws her thoughts on the war between Russia and Ukraine in nightmarish images.

The Svetlana Marinchenko Trio consists of the top-class musicians Niklas Lukassen on bass and T obias Backhaus on drums, who are considered one of the most sought-after and professional rhythm groups in Berlin. With their sensitivity, they complement Svetlana's musical ideas.

The album shows Marinchenko's development and maturity as a musician and artist. Through her studies at the Musikhochschule and her collaboration with international jazz greats such as Ben Wendel, Lionel Louecke and Norma Winston, she was able to gain valuable experience that was incorporated into her music.

"This album is a personal journey for me through the many facets of music and my own identity. It reflects my experiences, emotions and thoughts and is a tribute to my musical and cultural roots," says Svetlana Marinchenko.
