Info for At Least For Now

„At Least For Now,“ the debut album by widely-admired north London newcomer Benjamin Clementine. Compared by the Sunday Times to Nina Simone, Antony Hegarty and Laura Mvula, Clementine’s emergence has seen him go from busking in Paris to supporting Cat Power and Tune-Yards, then a standout debut on BBC2’s ‘Later…With Jools Holland,’ where Paul McCartney praised his “amazing” performance.

Benjamin Clementine has packed a lot into his 25 years: heartbreak, homelessness, reinvention, before reaching cult status in Paris and returning home in unlikely circumstances. Raised in Edmonton, his household was a strictly religious one, where children were barred from the living room unless it was a weekend dinner ('my parents, even though they were quite devilish, acted like Christians, and we weren't allowed to play anything other than gospel music”).'

„Cornerstone“ is packed with emotion: loneliness, fear and isolation – driven by relentless piano and haunting lyricism that recalls Clementine’s difficult past” (The Lines of Best Fit)

“An extraordinary new musical talent. Incredible” (Evening Standard (London’s Purcell Room)

'Memorable, powerful, emotionally honest' (Pigeons & Planes)

'Sombre piano balladry that goes straight for the gut' (DIY Magazine)

Produced by Benjamin Clementine, Jonathan Quarmby

Benjamin Clementine Benjamin Sainte-Clementine is a charismatic singer-poet, pianist, composer and affecting performer. He hails from London, Edmonton Green, but started his artistic career whilst traveling in Paris, 2009, aged just 19. He has also been highly praised for his distinctive tenor vocals.

"I am an expressionist; I sing what I say, I say what I feel and i feel what I play by honesty and none other but honesty. Some will get bored of me, but I invite the patient listener to come forth, feel and most importantly engage with me without asking too many questions. Hopefully by the end of listening they shall get answers not questionable, wether pleasing or not."
