Ricky Ross ist Frontsänger, Songwriter und Gründer der britischen Kultband Deacon Blue. „Short Stories Vol. 1“ wurde in den Chameleon Studios in Hamburg aufgenommen und hat den letzten Feinschliff mit wunderbaren Streichern und Chören in Glasgow erhalten. Zu hören sind sowohl brandneue Songs von Ricky Ross, als auch alt-bekannte Deacon Blue Hits sowie Raritäten aus seiner 30-jährigen Karriere als einer der beliebtesten Songwriter Großbritanniens (u.a. für James Blunt, Ronan Keating, KT Tunstall, Jamie Cullum).
Ricky Ross sagt: „Dieses Album ist wie ein Souvenir von meinen Soloshows, welche sich sehr von Deacon Blues Liveauftritten unterscheiden. Meine Shows sind sehr intim und geben mir die Möglichkeit, zum einen auf Lieder zurückzukommen, die am Piano und mit Gesang entstanden sind und sie so zu ihren Wurzeln zurückzuführen, sowie zum anderen auch neuere Songs zu spielen, die von Ereignissen in jüngster Zeit inspiriert wurden“.

Ricky Ross
has released five albums as a solo act. He has also written songs for or with artists including James Blunt, Ronan Keating, Jamie Cullum, and Nanci Griffith, among many others. In 2015 he wrote the songs for the acclaimed musical play The Choir at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow. He presents his own radio show, Another Country with Ricky Ross on BBC Radio Scotland, and presented a TV show tracing the history of his hometown Dundee. More recently he has presented Ricky Ross’s New Tradition, a series of shows on BBC Radio 2. He is one half of the duo McIntosh Ross who toured and released their much-admired debut album The Great Lakes in 2009.
