Biography Tom Gaebel

Tom Gaebel
Since releasing his debut album "Introducing: Myself" in 2005, the man with the inimitable voice has become an integral part of the music scene. No other entertainer in Germany combines such passionately crisp big band sounds with the captivating lightness of easy listening. In doing so, he immediately filled a niche that had been just waiting to be filled.

Born in Gelsenkirchen and raised in Ibbenbüren, Westphalia, as the second eldest of four brothers, music has been a part of his life since early childhood. From early classical training on glockenspiel and flute to boys' choir and violin lessons, he moved to drums at 14 and to trombone at 17. He discovered his true calling as a singer in his mid-20s. After studying trombone, drums, and jazz vocals in Amsterdam, he moved to Cologne and founded his first big band in 2005.

In what has now been almost 20 exciting and successful years, Tom Gaebel has released over 10 albums, participated in countless concert tours and TV shows, and performed to acclaimed sold-out crowds both at home and abroad. Fan favorites, in addition to the album tours, include "Tom Gaebel Sings Sinatra," a tribute to Tom's idol; the show "Licence To Swing," dedicated to the music of James Bond and other film heroes; and the trio program "A Swinging Affair," featuring music from the "American Songbook and beyond."

Christmas concerts have been a firm fixture in the calendars of young and old for years: The entire month of December is dedicated to "A Swinging Christmas," when Tom and his orchestra tour the country, not only singing popular classics but also fulfilling audience requests and distributing a host of musical gifts.

Dr. Swing has also been a welcome guest on television for many years – on shows such as "TV Total," "Zimmer Frei," "ZDF Fernsehgarten," "Bares für Rares," "Wer weiss den sowas?", "Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel," and "Florian Silbereisen."
