Werner Lämmerhirt has influenced the German fingerpicking landscape like hardly any other guitarist.

Werner was as an instrumentalist and songwriter certainly one of the highlights beyond the folk scene. From the combination of folk, swing, blues and his typically idiosyncratic style, powerful-rhythmic, often playful compositions emerged. In the 45 years of his solo career, Werner was received with enthusiasm by a wide audience - and he left his mark on generations of guitarists!

It has been half an eternity since we met and became good friends. In over forty years, more than 15 albums have been produced. Recordings with other artists, tours and festivals brought us together again and again. Some time ago Werner thought of slowing down his stage life a bit and recording what might be his last album. Nobody could have guessed that this would suddenly become a sad reality. Anfangs trafen wir uns in längeren Abständen im Studio. So entstanden wunderbare Titel mit Musikerfreunden. When Werner's life-threatening illness broke out, we began to work more and more intensively.

One of his last great wishes was to hear the finished recordings. We managed to do that together - and he was overjoyed. In all the sadness, his music and memory remain with us. (Günter Pauler Northeim, October 20, 2016)
