The "Jakob Bänsch Collective" brings together some of the most promising young talents of German jazz . The trumpeter Jakob Bänsch has created a formidable sextet whose members are between 18 and 21 years old. With his ensemble Jakob Bänsch performs a refreshingly current, contemporary jazz.

The jazz sextet, founded by trumpeter and composer Jakob Bänsch, consists of young musicians who belong to the promising newcomers of the German jazz scene.

The band presents a program of mostly original compositions as well as arrangements, which have a very unique sound with influences from the modern jazz of the 1960's/70's as well as classical music. The instrumentation with three wind players offers the special scope for almost symphonic arrangements with a great richness of sound color, combined with a lot of freedom for improvisation.

Jakob Bänsch and some of his band members have won prizes at "Jugend Musiziert" and "Jugend Jazzt", have received awards such as the "Young Lions Jazz Award" or the "JazzOpen Young Playground", and are members of the Bundesjugendjazzorchester or the Elphilharmonie Jazz-Academy.

In addition, the young musicians have already performed with such musical greats as Jim Snidero, Randy Brecker, Jochen Rückert, Ack van Rooyen, Wolfgang Dauner and Bob Mintzer.
