Info for Ferd

Ferd is the debut album by Norwegian composer and pianist Ole-Bjørn Talstad. Having written two dozen songs over the last couple years, Talstad put his focus into crafting a collection with an overarching narrative. 'Ferd' is an old Norwegian word meaning journey or voyage, which can also be used to indicate someone's journey through life. It is an apt name for this album, which, while containing doses of nordic melancholy, perfectly captures Talstad's hopeful and optimistic outlook. We've all suffered some hardship, but together we can lift each other up and move on to better days. The record is accompanied by beautiful and uplifting artwork by James Kirkus-Lamont.

"For those who like to drift, on a wave of endless romance with melancholic sails, the new album "Ferd" is the ideal companion. One is sure to spend a few pleasant hours with the music of Ole-Bjørn, to look back on these moments with pleasure in the future. Quiet and familiar, this music is able to penetrate into the deepest corner of the soul. At this point one must also compliment the composers for a first work simply around successful sound aesthetics. Only a small point of criticism remains: With 19 minutes total playing time 2-3 tracks more would have stood the work a little better. Release is February 24, 2023 via Moderna Records, the label is increasingly becoming a true beacon of emerging composers in the field of modern classical music." (gezeitenstrom.weebly.com)
