"En Rymd av Färg" is well-written and ditto arranged jazz music in the larger format with nice themes and sounds, fantastic performances and a voice "to die for". The songs were written with the big band members in mind. It is noticeable in the end result which is really good, modern big band music with sterling solos by, among others, Alberto Pinton on baritone saxophone, Christer Olofsson on trombone, magnificent Stefan Wingefors on piano and not least Karolina's sharpened soprano saxophone. As composers and soloists, the duo has collaborated with the professionel big band Bohuslän Big Band.

It started in early 2015 when Bohuslän Big Band ordered music from the duo, 45 minutes from each sister.

This led to a tour in autumn 2015 and later on, another tour in spring 2017. The same spring they recorded an album together. ”En Rymd av Färg” consists of music composed and arranged by the sisters and was released in September 2017 under the label Vara Konserthus.

In 2013 Sisters of Invention composed on commission by Norbottens Musiken, they wrote 60 min music for Arctic Youth Jazz Orchestra and went with on a tour in Scotland with them. In 2013 the sisters together with AYJO won a prize as "best big band" at Blue House Youth Jazz Festival in Stockholm.

Sisters of Invention is a Swedish duo consisting of the sisters Malin and Karolina Almgren. In recent years, they have collaborated with a number of famous musicians and artists, and have been praised for their unique sound. Euroradio Jazz Competition (2016), Jazzkatten "group of the year" (2017). Their collaboration with the big band Bohuslän Big Band resulted in the record release "En rymd av färg" (2017). An album consisting of music composed and arranged by the sisters. As a duo, they have released three critically acclaimed records "Om & om igen", "Navigating" and "SOL". In the autumn of 2022, the album "Sisterhood" was also released.

The Sisters of Inventions duo repertoire is a stripped-down concept where the sisters give themselves more space as improvisers and instrumentalists. The set consists basically of the drum set and saxophone, topped with vocals, loops and sampling pad. The music is described as colorful and swinging at the same time as it is poetic and vulnerable. The focus is on strong melodies and rhythms.
