Info for Anouch

André Manoukian will release a new album entitled "Anouch", the name of his grandmother... The Armenian-born pianist is surrounded by four female musicians and singers who have mixed their Bulgarian voices with Armenian duduk, Indian tablas and the atmospheric jazz of a trio.

André Manoukian is a personality with a solid, established and popular reputation. If his name is immediately associated with music, it is now the ambition of "Anouch" to link him to HIS music.

It is with a very personal album that André Manoukian reveals himself for the first time and in music about his origins, his history; mixing his roots and their memory with what drives him today, thus creating a majestic, solar and accessible album.

"Anouch inspired the song that gives the album its title. It's a walk. And that's good, Anouch was a hiker. Anouch was my grandmother. In 1915 she walked 1000 km from Amasya to Deir es Zor.

If she survived, it's because she had a big mouth and was able to move the Turkish commander of the convoy that deported her.

Anouch, in Armenian, means "sweet".
