Das 2019 gegründete französische Ensemble La Quintina um den Tenor Jérémie Couleau widmet sich erneut dem englischen Renaissance-Meister Nicholas Ludford. Seine „Mass upon John Dunstable's Square“ beruht auf einem Thema (Square) von John Dunstable, einem englischen Komponisten der Frührenaissance, der 100 Jahre vor Ludford lebte. Das Spezialensemble, ein Gesangstrio mit Organist, versucht nicht, einen Gottesdienst nachzuahmen, sondern tritt mit seinen Ymaginacions genannten Inspirationen in einen lebendigen Dialog mit den musikalischen Erfindungen von Dunstable und Ludford.

La Quintina
Created in 2019, the ensemble takes its name from an ideal of Sardinian music. The quintina is this fifth voice produced, without being sung, by the harmonics of singers in a state of grace. This musical and aesthetic summit is a living heritage of a European culture whose origins date back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Gathered around Jérémie Couleau, the musicians of La Quintina bring certain forgotten polyphonies to life without limiting themselves in time or space.
