Ballades and Impromptus. Among the most suggestive of the titles Chopin bestowed on his works, they announce the poetic charge of two very different and contrasting genres. Where the Ballades are expansive and dense, with their dramatic power rooted in epic and legend and their bright or sombre hues, the Impromptus are light and concise, elusive and ephemeral, airy, fragile and volatile in texture, and with delicate touches of colour that spread joy, effervescent or serene, on the fleet wings of their melodies. These two aspects are but one at heart, though, in their essential romanticism, their lyricism and their roots in the fertile soil of improvisation, inseparable from the powerful inspiration that brought them into being. ...

François Dumont
Von Monat zu Monat setzt sich François Dumont als einer der heutigen meist talentierten Klavierspieler durch. Preisträger (5ter Platz) des Chopinwettbewerbs 2010 in Warschau, zu dessen Jury Martha Argerich, Nelson Freire und Adam Harasiewicz gehörten, wurde der junge französische Pianist auch 2011 in der Kategorie 'Révélation instrumentale 'bei den' Victoires de la musique classique' nominiert.

1985 in Lyon geboren wurde er mit 14 Jahren in die Pariser Musikhochschule (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris) aufgenommen, wo er mit Bruno Rigutto und dessen Assistenten arbeitete. Seine weitere Ausbildung machte er dann bei Fou T’Song, Menahem Pressler, Murray Perahia oder noch Dmitri Bashkirov im Rahmen der Serie Klavier**** (Paris) oder der Internationalen Akademie Como (Italien).

Nach dem Gewinn des Wettbewerbs Jean Françaix zeichnet er 2008 in La Chaux-de-fonds sämtliche Mozartsonaten für Anima Records auf. Von der Kritik gelobt fällt diese Gesamtaufnahme durch die Schönheit ihrer Phrasierungen, ihre Innerlichkeit, ihre strahlende Heiterkeit, sowie ihren prächtigen Wohlklang auf. Dieses Chopinalbum ist seine zweite Plattenproduktion und seine erste Mitarbeit mit Artalinna.
