Subtle, sparse and achingly patient performances collide with dense, enveloping walls of electronic ambience on Sleep Decade's second full length release, Collapse. The result of several years’ effort and refinement, assembled with a level of sonic detail rewarding attentive repeat listening, Collapse deconstructs the youthful haze of 2012’s Into Spinning Lights into an ambitious study in minimalist restraint, and earnest examination of existential totality. The bare-naked Victorian coastal poetry celebrates the fractal nature of meaning existing in the very small, and the unbelievably massive; retaining a beauty and simplicity on all scales. The significance of a springtime bike ride, or a passing tram is weighed equally with exploding suns and the work of Buckminster Fuller - and all with a wide-eyed perspective that welcomes the listener into the records self-contained universe.

Sleep Decade
blend dream pop, distorted folk and dense synth drones into delicately executed, deeply atmospheric songs. Made up of brothers Casey and Monty Hartnett, and close friend Thom Plant, the three piece find a multitude of ways to make expansive, languid sounds fascinating. Warm vocals, looped guitar textures, simple bass motifs and minimalist drumming emanate from the trio like billowing clouds - subtle, but dynamic music making ample use of space in a way redolent of classic slowcore bands like Codeine and Blue Tile Lounge.
