Deutsche Grammophon gedenkt zum 100. Todestag des großen Komponisten Claude Debussy mit einer Reihe an Veröffentlichungen, unter anderem drei Vinyl-Reissues mit maßstabsetzenden Klavierinterpretationen.
Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli war niemand, der die großen Effekte suchte. Kein Blender, der mit Geschwindigkeit oder Lautstärke zu beeindrucken versuchte. Er war ein akribischer Arbeiter, dem es darum ging, jedes Detail einer Komposition herauszustellen, jede Note mit einer speziellen Dynamik zu versehen. So ergibt sich auch bei dieser Einspielung der Images und von Children’s Corner ein Farbspektrum und ein Maß an dezidierter Artikulation, das wohl bis heute unerreicht ist.
