Perhaps what best characterizes the young Sino-Swiss piano prodigy Louis Schwizgebel, acclaimed in the most prestigious international venues, is his always giving the impression that it is the composers themselves who are playing in his place. Thus, no one could imitate this transcendent limpidity, combining both juvenile interiority and the existential gravity unique to Schubert's universe. In this eagerly awaited solo album, Louis Schwizgebel appropriates two gems of the great repertoire. Sonata D. 845 (no. 16) in A minor, considered the first of Schubert's maturity, impresses with the mastery of its structure and its expressive power. Worthy of a symphony, the D. 958 in C minor, 19th out of the 21 that he composed, symbolises the mastery of the composer, freed from the weight of his admiration for Beethoven.

Enhanced by recording quality featuring an extraordinary harmonic palette that will delight the most demanding audiophile, this project with its interpretations of reference already promises to be one of the finest piano CDs of the year.

Louis Schwizgebel
1987 in einer schweizerisch-chinesischen Künstlerfamilie in Genf geboren, absolvierte sein Klavierstudium an der Musikhochschule Lausanne in der Klasse von Brigitte Meyer, wo er bereits mit 15 Jahren das Solistendiplom erhielt. Momentan bildet er sich mit Unterstützung der Hans-Wilsdorf-Stiftung an der New York Juilliard School bei Emanuel Ax und Robert McDonald weiter und arbeitet eng mit Pascal Nemirovski.

Im Alter von 17 Jahren gewann Louis Schwizgebel den Internationalen Wettbewerb in Genf und zwei Jahre später die „Young Concert Artists International Auditions“ in New York. Er wurde 2012 einer breiten Öffentlichkeit bekannt, als er den 2. Preis beim Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb in Leeds gewann. Der Publikumsliebling und jüngste Finalteilnehmer interpretierte in der Schlussrunde, welche von TV und Radio BBC ausgestrahlt wurde, Beethovens Klavierkonzert Nr. 4 mit dem Hallé-Orchester unter der Leitung von Sir Mark Elder.

Louis Schwizgebel hat bereits mit zahlreichen international renommierten Orchestern konzertiert, u. a. mit dem London Philharmonic Orchestra, dem BBC National Orchestra of Wales, den Wiener Symphonikern oder dem China National Symphony Orchestra unter der Leitung von Dirigenten wie Charles Dutoit, Fabio Luisi, Marek Janowski und Louis Langrée.

Der junge Pianist tritt bei wichtigen Festivals, wie z. B. dem Verbier Festival, dem City of London Festival oder dem Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano, auf. Konzertauftritte führen ihn in so berühmte Konzertsäle, wie z. B. die Carnegie Hall, die Wigmore Hall oder die Tonhalle Zürich.
