Dan Auerbach hat das Album ebenfalls produziert. »Stand For Myself« ist ein kraftvolles statement von Yola, dass Leben mehr ist als nur Überleben.
Sie verbindet hier symphonic soul und classic pop mit ihrer einzigartigen Ausstrahlung. Auf »Stand For Myself« ist Yola melodisch und lyrisch so frei wie nie zuvor. Außerdem wurden ihre Pläne über den Haufen geworfen, nach Australien zu fliegen, um die Rolle als Schwester Rosetta Tharpe in dem neuen Elvis-Biopic von Baz Luhrmann zu drehen (die Filmproduktion wurde mittlerweile wieder aufgenommen, geplanter Kinostart ist Juni 2022).
