Info for Drama

Marty Friedman's presence in the world of music, the world of guitar and Japanese pop culture is enigmatic, bizarre and downright inspiring. From his groundbreaking beginnings with Cacophony alongside the legendary Jason Becker to his pivotal role in propelling Megadeth to the pinnacle of popularity with his breathtaking range and unorthodox melodic sensibilities, MARTY has cemented his status as a one-of-a-kind guitar icon. MARTY announces "Drama", his latest solo album, on which he takes the atmospheric elements of his acclaimed 1992 album "Scenes" only slightly and elevates them into a modern and exotic collection of extravagant and unmistakably emotional mini-symphonies. The album as a whole brings MARTY's mesmerising melodies, surprising arrangements and motifs even more to the fore than any of his previous works. Recorded in Italy, where MARTY had access to a treasure trove of vintage guitars alongside his modern signature models, "Drama" is a pure delight for anyone who appreciates music that stirs the emotions.

Marty Friedman

Marty Friedman
is one of the most influential and respected guitarists in the world. His influential and groundbreaking contributions to heavy metal and guitar in general continue to inspire generations of musicians and music fans to this day.

Friedman defined modern guitar playing with Jason Becker in Cacophony, was a key element in the successful rise of thrash pioneers Megadeth and has achieved worldwide success with his "Marty-esque" improvisations and the exotic fusion of Eastern and Western music with his 13 solo albums.

Since moving into Japanese music and eventually relocating to Japan, Friedman has further cemented his image as a unique and unpredictable solo artist, as well as his status as a prominent rock star. He has achieved multiple top 10 placements on the Japanese charts and has performed in Japan's largest venues - from Tokyo Dome to Budokan. He has also appeared as a guest on over 700 television shows, appeared in four feature films and appeared in several commercials and TV campaigns. On November 4, 2016, Friedman was appointed “Ambassador of Japanese Heritage” by the Japanese government.
