This recording is the world premiere of the complete work of ORESTE.

Cornelia Lanz and the Bauer Studios Ludwigsburg produce a notable sound experience with this new double album. The recordings at the church in Besigheim (Baden- Württemberg/Germany) lasted seven days. The project was overseen by Tonmeister and co-producer Johannes Wohlleben, who took special care of the complete use of the church’s acoustic. This album contains a comprehensive libretto in English and German language, as well as the complete lyrics of the opera in Italian and German.

For centuries Ludwigsburg has been known as a centre of top class music: Mozart travelled to Ludwigsburg and its music festivals are well established on an international level. Bach and Händel are widely known as the musical masters of the baroque era. But master Händel was also a real businessman. ORESTE was produced at a time when Händel was coping with a new playhouse and significant financial strain. Like many of his contemporaries, he decided to write a pastiche with other pieces of music taken from different works.

ORESTE is a so-called “genuine pasticcio”, consisting of pieces from Händel’s works only.
