With “Première Portraits” Capriccio set an example for the support of young and talented artists and invite them to release their première album for a worldwide audience. Melba Ramos, Puerto-Rican Soprano, studied at Pablo Casals Conservatory of Music in San Juan, capital city of her home country. She distinguished herself by winning several opera singing prizes. After being active at the Opera Studios in Cologne and in Wuppertal, she made her way as coloratura soprano to the Ensemble of the Volksoper in Vienna in 2003 to which she is still dedicated today. In parallel, numerous guest engagements led Melba Ramos to esteemed places to work at as the Komische Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and further Opera Houses in cities such as Bonn, Mannheim, Bremen, Kassel, Hamburg, Hannover, Saarbrücken, Nuremberg and many more.

Amerikanische Sopranistin, schloss ihre Ausbildung am Pablo Casals Musik-Konservatorium in San Juan ab, wo sie 1987 den ersten Preis bei den „District Metropolitan Opera Auditions“ erhielt. Ihr Operdebüt gab sie kurz darauf als Despina in Mozarts „Cosi fan tutte“. Von 1989 bis 1992 gehörte sie dem Opernstudio Köln an. Anschießend war sie bis 1996 im Emsemble der Wuppertaler Bühnen engagiert, wo sie begann, ihr Repertoire als lyrischer Koloratursopran aufzubauen.

Zahlreiche Gastengagements führten dis Sängerin an die Wiener Volksoper, die Oper der Stadt Bonn, die Komische Oper, Deutsche Oper und Staatsoper (allein Berlin) sowie an die Theater in Mannheim, Bremen, Kassel, Hamburg und Hannover.

Zudem gastierte sie an dert Westchester Hudson Opera in New York, am Teatro Carlo Felice in Genua, am Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Am Teatro Arriaga Bilbao und am Royal Opera House Covent Garden sowie bei den Schwetzinger Festspielen, der Salzburger Mozartwoche und den Salzburger Pfingstfestspielen, wo sie mit Dirigenten wie Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Thomas Hengelbrock und Christopher Hogwood zusammenarbeitete.

In den letzten jahren vollzog Melba Ramos wegen ihrer großen Stimmentwicklung einen Fachwechsel und ist nun in Rollen wie Aida, Tosca, Cio-Cio-San „Madama Butterfly“, Ariadne „Ariadne auf Naxos“,Leonora „Il Trovatore“, Amelia „Un Ballo in Maschera“ Giorgetta „IlTabarro“ und Lady Macbeth „Machbeth“ zu hören.
